Image sizes on social media: recommended dimensions for images and videos

By teamnext Editorial Team

The right image sizes and video sizes are a key factor for how content is displayed on social media. In this article, size refers to dimensions and aspect ratios. In practice, this is described as image dimensions, image proportions, pixel dimensions, or resolution.

The term format can also mean different things. Here, format refers to image orientation and aspect ratio. Typical examples are portrait and landscape, such as 9:16 and 16:9.

Successful online marketing requires suitable image sizes and video resolutions. If platform recommendations are ignored, content may appear blurry, be cropped in an unfavorable way, or be placed less effectively.

Since platforms can change their recommendations with major updates, the following figures are intended as an overview for 2025.

Note: If the goal is video formats in the sense of file formats, a separate overview is needed. This article covers formats in the sense of dimensions and aspect ratios.
